Good Morning, Professors!

I hope you survived finals, the last few Fall 2025 emails that start with “Professor, I am sorry…” and then offer a wildly creative explanation, and get a short breather before the spring semester and the first day of classes hit. The Sunday Scaries are real, even for professors.

A few housekeeping notes.

Professor Resources on Extra Points Classroom is currently getting the final touches, including an information-sharing community specifically for professors. If you would like a quick tour or demo, let me know. It will not take more than 15 minutes.

Let’s get to a classroom resource that lives in Professor Resources on Extra Points. This is a portion of one of the lessons.

Realignment never sleeps. Ever. There is always shifting, movement and even some back-door dealing. The Western Athletic Conference has undergone several identities and is a far cry from its 1984 football national championship with BYU. Earlier in 2025, the league was on life support and had to pitch itself to multiple conferences in hopes of a merger or strategic alliance for all sports.

We have one of those pitches to the Summit League in the PDF below.

It is full of typos and even includes grainy logos. Yes, you read that correctly. A real Division I pitch deck where survivability was on the line, and it was average at best.

So why not have your students take a crack at building a better pitch deck? It is a hands-on way to get them thinking like a commissioner or a school evaluating realignment options.
